I want you all to know that an Arab Muslim from Tunis proposed the Theory of Evolution near 600 years before Charles Darwin even took his first breath. Don’t let them erase you.

his name is Ibn Khaldun

Also, it was not the apple falling from a tree that made Issac Newton “discover” gravity. He was reading the books of Ibn Al Haytham, an Arab Muslim from Iraq, who pioneered the scientific method, discovered gravity and wrote about the laws governing the movement of bodies (now known as Newtons three laws of motion) some 600 years before Newton existed. Without him, modern science as we know it wouldn’t exist. Read on him. His achievements are far greater than what I’ve just mentioned here.

#no offense but arabs literally invented chemistry and algebra and we came up with the concept of the camera #the cataract operation that’s still practiced today was invented by an Arab #we created alchemy and the wright brothers used abbas ibn firnas’ findings and writings to build on to create a plane #I could go on and on and on #pls don’t erase our scientific history

I reblog this post every time I see it

I have never heard of this guy and THAT IS A PROBLEM. Such an influential man being pushed aside in basic western historical texts is tragic.

There is so much fascinating history here, if you are interested in knowing more.

Science in the Mediaeval Islamic World:

“… science developed and practised during the Islamic Golden Age under the Umayyads of Córdoba, the Abbadids of Seville, the Samanids, the Ziyarids, the Buyids in Persia, the Abbasid Caliphate and beyond, spanning the period c. 800 to 1250. Islamic scientific achievements encompassed a wide range of subject areas, especially astronomy, mathematics, and medicine. Other subjects of scientific inquiry included alchemy and chemistry, botany, geography and cartography, ophthalmology, pharmacology, physics, and zoology.”

Islamic World Contributions to Mediaeval Europe:

“During the high medieval period, the Islamic world was at its cultural peak, supplying information and ideas to Europe, via Andalusia, Sicily and the Crusader kingdoms in the Levant. These included Latin translations of the Greek Classics and of Arabic texts in astronomy, mathematics, science, and medicine. Other contributions included technological and scientific innovations via the Silk Road, including Chinese inventions such as paper and gunpowder.

“The Islamic world also influenced other aspects of medieval European culture, partly by original innovations made during the Islamic Golden Age, including various fields such as the arts, agriculture, alchemy, music, pottery, etc.

“Many Arabic loanwords in Western European languages, including English, mostly via Old French, date from this period. This includes traditional star names such as Aldebaran, scientific terms like alchemy (whence also chemistry), algebra, algorithm, etc. and names of commodities such as sugar, camphor, cotton, etc.”

Today on “Europe thought it was special, but really isn't”

Read 1001 inventions: Muslim heritage in our world. Some things you won’t find in your history books.

Your friendly neighborhood historian here reminding you that the “dark ages” weren’t really that dark at all as you had people in Asia and Africa getting shit DONE. 👌

FOOD

  • Find your nearest food bank or mission, for food
  • grocery stores with free samples, bakeries + stores with day-old bread
  • different fast food outlets have cheaper food and will generally let you hang out for a while.
  • some dollar stores carry food like cans of beans or fruit

SHELTER

  • Sleeping at beaches during the day is a good way to avoid suspicion and harassment
  • sleep with your bag strapped to you, so someone can’t steal it
  • Some churches offer short term residence
  • Find your nearest homeless shelter
  • Look for places that are open to the public
  • A large dumpster near a wall can often be moved so that flipping up the lids creates an angled shelter to stay dry

HYGIENE

  • A membership to the YMCA is usually only 10$, which has a shower, and sometimes laundry machines and lockers.
  • Public libraries have bathrooms you can use
  • Dollar stores carry low-end soaps and deodorant etc.
  • Wet wipes are all purpose and a life saver
  • Local beaches, go for a quick swim
  • Some truck stops have showers you can pay for
  • Staying clean is the best way to prevent disease, and potentially get a job to get back on your feet
  • Pack 7 pairs of socks/undies, 2 outfits, and one hooded rain jacket

i’ll never forgive what this hellsite did to undertale tbh

we had an extremely well written game where litterally every single character was likeable in their own way, even when every single one of them had flaws. we had a lesbian couple where it was impossible to get the true ending without pairing them together. had incredible humour. we had this beautiful story about how you have to help a young child let go of the greif and pain of losing his parents and his beloved sibling and becoming a soulless husk. meanwhile helping the soul of the first child be finally put to rest. and is even a game where you don’t even want to reset it after finishing it, as you have the power to rip the happy ending away from the characters who finally get their freedom, and kill all of them in the process. and is quite litterally up to you what their fate will be.

undertale was such an incredible game, and in my opinion, dare i say almost perfect rpg and i’ll litterally never forgive that it got reduced to weird sans rule 34 and “haha sans undertale”

"He’s trying to put as much of a cloak of ignorance around himself as he possibly can,” Bauer told me. “What this does is abandon Trump’s year-and-a-half explanation that there was absolutely ‘no collusion.’ After that meeting, there could have been ongoing coordination. And now he’s not denying that could have happened. He’s saying he doesn’t know."

There’s a big tell in Trump’s latest defense of Donald Jr.

He’s lying. He was lying then, he’s lied about it ever since, and he’s lying now. Trump knew all about this meeting, and was likely part of it, if only by speakerphone.

He does not deserve the benefit of the doubt at all. He’s a liar and a criminal and he should be removed from office, and tried for his crimes.
